i'm a web designer i don't really do logo design but i have a graphic designer on my team that does but we never had to price it before, all we get is web design work so i'm lost for words on this one. we receive this email today (well I'm just going to show part of it)

" I need a quote from you of a logo that is 2 colors. Black and Yellow. Logo + Tagline. If you are interested please place in your quote the amount of revisions you allow as well. If you have any further questions please let me know."

if we had a logo design here that could help me price this real quick that would be a LIFE SAVER! And what questions should i ask? sorry if I'm asking too much i just never had to price logo design it kinda slip my mind

Logo design is hard a thing to put a price on because you need to create many different variants for the client to be able to have a choice in what they would like best. Unless they are super specific on what they want, it will take you time. therefore i suggest you charge by the hour. Lets say you charge $25 an hour and create 8 logos as examples in 3 hours, The logo of choice will be worth $75, but there is also a trick to this because you want to show them something that is not fully finished but looks good and has outlined detail with words so that the client cant see the full picture, but undersetands where its headed. This will give you another hour or two to finish up the final logo for the client. Your rough estimate would come around how much you decide to charge for your time. For this example it will be worth $100 - $125, but as I mentioned before, know your client and see how much they are willing to pay at first then charge by the hour.

Let me know what you think? VI

well someone outsourcing this work to my agency we normally work 47/hr but this logo seem to be rather easy so i shouldn't charge that much i think? and also what about the questions i should ask him

You would want to ask specific questions to get to know your client and there intentions. Be friendly and listen more than you would speak, let them talk about themselves and don't be afraid to ask questions that you are searching answers for. I mean for example; if his business and logo design has everything to do with cars and you ask him what kind of car he drives, and he tells you I own a Bugatti, maybe that will give you a bit of an incentive to charge more. At the end of the day, you need to look out for your value and know what your time is worth. Hope that gives you some ideas.

And as for your reply, where you state that you work 47hr, if it takes you that long to finish a logo you would be a rich man right now or nobody would want to work with you. That is why I suggest you estimate how fast you can finish this logo and charge by the hour. Not the full 47hr.
