Not sure where to start in learning how to build a social media site

Hi All,

I have an idea for a new "social media platform" geared specifically towards musicians that I'm wanting to build, however I don't really have any prior dev experience. I know that I'll probably need a frontend and backend, however I'm not sure where to start in learning how to build this out.

Would it be best to start with the Ruby/rails track? Or maybe the flask/python course? I also would be interested in knowing how to host everything once I get close to a MVP, but I'm sure I can cross that bridge when I get to it.

Thanks!

Isn't myspace now a social media platform for musicians that hasn't fared too well? To build that site would take more than one person. You might start here with the Full Stack Foundations track to see if you are up for it. But you have a lot of languages to learn.

Gotcha. I know I definitely have my work cut out for me- from what I've seen there are at least a few different languages I would need to learn between backend, API, front-end, etc.

Basically what I have in mind, is kind of site for "matchmaking" where people can find bands to play in or vice versa, and musicians/bands would be matched based on musical taste, instruments, etc.
