The red chart on the page is a great helper. It lists the value of each bit, going right-to-left. You just add the values up for each position that has a "1", and skip any with a "0".

For example, if you have binary 1101, going from right-to-left you have a one, no two, a four, and an eight (for a total of 13).

You will often see zeros on the left side of a binary number, but you can ignore those when determining value.
