Hello everybody! My name is Bo, and I'm the Director of Marketing and Production here at Treehouse. Here's my LinkedIn profile and Twitter.
I was inspired to start my coding journey in earnest, when customizing your MySpace pages was becoming popular, and I had a friend who built Flash games (anybody remember Miniclip?). It was addicting to create something and see it manifested on the internet - I've loved it ever since.
Lately I've been working on simple woodworking projects at home: An outdoor bench, and a series of bookshelves. I'm also brainstorming the big home improvement projects I want to tackle this summer. Lots to look forward to now that the weather is turning!
Looking forward to connecting with you all!

Harold Reed
6,020 PointsHello, my name is Harold Reed. Training is going well, though I'm refreshing stuff I learned a while ago. I'm currently working through the exercises and it's mostly smooth. Trying to stay sharp and hopefully make some friends along the way. Good luck! I'm on LinkedIn at https://linkedin.com/in/hreed123
Josh Date
Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Graduate 17,973 PointsHello everyone! My name is Josh Date and I am a college student. I was inspired to write code when I was watching Mr.Robot (watched all 4 Seasons and loved it). I started doing some research on how to get into that field and that led me here.
Although my program is in business (in my last year), I really wanted to learn how to code so I am doing this on the side to pick up a new skill. I don't have any projects to show at this current point in time.
I like to watch sports (football, tennis, golf and basketball) and play video games (Pokemon, Call Of Duty, Injustice 2).

9,964 PointsThis chat is super inspiring. I thought I was old getting into this and felt kind of silly some days trying to start over. I'm 38 and have 4 children, two under the age of 3 so I know Tomasz' frustrations. I decided to code because I have always loved computers and problem solving and coding hits both of those passions. I worked for 13 years at Verizon Wireless and felt myself stagnating so I left to focus on building my coding skills. It hasn't been easy but I am enjoying myself even as I struggle so I'm so happy I made the transition. I'm also super grateful to be learning on Treehouse!
Here is my LinkedIn and my Twitter. I also have a GitHub that I am adding my coding challenges to; I'm very excited about them! :)

Anastasios Dimitriou
PHP Development Techdegree Student 6,526 PointsHey guys!!
I was thinking about my age too like you have all said before me. I'm 35 and having a morning job that is not really my passion. I do love PC's and Tech, also math and code!! I have studied CS in the past and did it more for my passion and love about the subject that i had from a young age for computing.
The last six months im trying with a developer friend to take on some starting web dev freelance jobs like an ecommerce shop that we are currently building! I will post as soon as it is live. I want a transition from my current job that is a bit boring for me. So i decided to join Treehouse and get some coding skills. In Treehouse I have started the PHP Techdegree and just finished the first unit! Lessons seem very nice! We have also lockdown here in Greece so i got plenty of time in the evenings.
I would love to connect with you https://www.linkedin.com/in/tasos-dimitriou-0ba6b3141/ and thats one of the main reasons im here.
Have a nice day! Happy studying!! Nice to meet you all!!

I believe you should learn something new every day, so here I am learning python with Teamtreehouse. I am currently trying to build my own web application using python language. I like soccer, reading, and cooking. I want to put all my content into a portfolio and build up my brand. Below is my Linkedin link, please check it out! Somara Son
3,400 PointsHi all!
I'm Somara, currently living in Brooklyn, NY. Studying the Front-end Web Development track. I am a Fashion Merchandising major C/O 2019 - currently looking for work in Product development!
- follow me @somara_codes on IG where I'll be documenting my journey more often!
I started getting serious about learning code during 2020 because I saw a huge demand for tech professional in the FASHION industry. I am a future-thinker so I want to be ahead of the game when business/merchandising professionals soon have to learn computer languages to remain relevant in the industry.
I am really enjoying coding my first website portfolio (HTML, CSS, Javascript on VSCode). I look forward to taking my career within web development at a fashion company when the time comes for me to do so!
Outside of coding while conducting my job search - I love to go to the gym and lift weights!
Ayana Bando
9,964 PointsSomara that sounds like a sound decision! Good luck in your endeavors!

Angie Berg
5,624 PointsHi everyone. I have a CS degree but never did anything with it because of health issues. There have been so many changes in Web Dev since then and I have not kept up or practiced the limited skills I learned that I knew I had to learn again. I am a creative and logical person so it fits. I can relate to the age thing. I am 41 so I do worry a bit about younger competition but I need to work and what is nice is that now there is a lot more opportunity to work from home I am not restricted to employment locally.
Mark Ryan
Python Web Development Techdegree Graduate 28,648 PointsNice work, Angie! We can compete! We've got a thousand experiences, stories, hard life lessons, etc. There's value there. Keep moving forward!
Ayana Bando
9,964 PointsAngie, you are not alone looking for work in your later years. You got this!
Mark Hollrah
3,387 PointsWhy hello everybody. I am here to improve my life. Coding is new to me and I don't want to not screw up. The only experience that I have in tech is building and maintaining old equipment as well as repair work on some modern stuff. I have always been a physical hands on person when it comes to anything technological. Granted that I have a Linkedin page but it is to help get a job right now. I an currently unemployed. It is a lot more difficult when you are 43 to get a new job than people think. Even in an area like Louisville, KY were I live. Good luck to all.
Mark Ryan
Python Web Development Techdegree Graduate 28,648 PointsWell done, Mark. Don't worry about the screwing up part - that's where wisdom is found. There's a good chance you could go remote in this industry. What area of coding are you going to specialize in?
Ayana Bando
9,964 PointsGood luck! Don't be discouraged! I'm starting late and am also unemployed. We will get there!
Karla Walker
Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Graduate 15,865 PointsMark Hollrah We're all in this together! Coding is challenging but super rewarding, don't let the struggles you encounter bring you down. :) Screwing up is just part of the journey, it's the best way to learn!

UX Design Techdegree Graduate 23,599 PointsHello Mark, If you are not making mistakes, you are not learning. This is especially true in coding. Welcome to theTreehouse Family.
Karla Walker
Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Graduate 15,865 PointsHi everyone! My name is Karla and I'm inspired because there are so many unique and creative ways to solve problems with code. I'm a creative person and enjoy web design as well as creating digital illustrations (when I can find the time lol). Although it's not the main reason I'm learning to code, the pay is definitely a plus! I'm not new to code but I was missing a sense of structure which is why I signed up for a Treehouse Techdegree and I'm loving it so far!
Bo Jacober, I also love seeing the final creation on the web, it's so satisfying! It's what keeps me going when I'm having trouble with a project I'm working on.
Mark Ryan, congrats on your accomplishment. I'm a new student here at Treehouse so it's awesome to hear that you were able to gain so many valuable skills through Treehouse :).

My name is Alejandra and I have been passionate about technology for a long time and after hesitating learning web development for a loooong time I finally gave it a try last year and I'm loving it!! I love activities that require a lot of concentration, tedious, challenging, information analysis, coding of course!! Philip Minielly
2,361 PointsI was inspired to learn to code by the documentary 'The Social Dilemma'. This movie highlighted the dangers of technology and I felt the need to learn more about development and the web so I could better understand how to better protect myself and my privacy.
After watching that movie I started at Treehouse and was hooked. My goals started as learning more about something that I'm connected to everyday and immediately shifted to building my career around software development.
I dove headfirst and have spent as much time as I can learning about development.
I looked back at my account and I obtained my Newbie badge on Aug.30, 2020. 193 days later and I have a portfolio site deployed at https://phildev.netlify.app/ which links to a full-stack MERN project that I built. I can now confidently build web apps from scratch and deploy them to the internet.
I'm currently learning C# and .NET and hope to have a project on my portfolio using these technologies soon.
I'm applying for jobs and meeting new people in the tech space daily and I'm thrilled ! If you told me 193 days ago where I'd be I wouldn't have believed you. I can't wait to see where I am in another 193 days. While I don't actively use the platform anymore , It all started on Treehouse !
Feel free to connect on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/philip-minielly-162230191/ and happy coding !
Ayana Bando
9,964 PointsPhilip, that was very inspiring! It feels good when you build something, doesn't it?!
Shane Singh
5,440 PointsHey everyone!
I have been on Treehouse for the past five years and the coding experience and soft skills gained here along with the Treehouse affiliate program has inspired me to create my own website that helps other students find their career path. The website I am working on is www.jobpathnow.com
This side hustle is a passion project of mine since I am naturally trying to learn as much as possible while working in healthcare as I believe learning new things everyday can help us cope with the hardships of life (career changes, relationships, financial hardships). Improving your skills and learning more everyday can open a new doorway that leads you to a fulfilling career that you would have no idea you were interested in!
Here is my LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shane-2664994a
Hope to network with like minded user on this platform and for our professional and personal dreams to come true!
Mark Ryan
Python Web Development Techdegree Graduate 28,648 PointsWhat's up, Bo (and fellow Treehouse people)!
I was inspired by... money. But for real, I love to build stuff. I've always been that way. I def remember MySpace. I think I was more into making stuff on GeoCities. Anyway, recently (18 months ago) I decided to take the leap into coding. Code seemed like a world that could keep me busy forever. I'm joining the game late (I'm 36 this year), but I'm not letting that stop me.
Lately, I've been working on an MVP for an e-commerce/shipping/review site. It really is all of those things lol. It's just me building for one client from scratch. It hasn't been easy, but I'm proud of what we've achieved so far - we went live a few weeks ago and we're well into 5 figures of revenue and a few hundred users. We'll probably do a full launch later this year and maybe I'll share then (it's too ugly right now!). 99% of what I've done so far (designing, building, deployment, testing) I learned right here at Treehouse! Pretty wild to think about.
The nice weather is coming to Toronto. Looking forward to getting back out with my camera. I'd like to spend less time in front of the screen! We're still in semi-lockdown here so there's not much to do beyond that.
I love connecting with Treehouse people: www.linkedin.com/in/marksparkyryan
That's my update! Hope everyone is happy and healthy!

582 PointsHi, You are not joining late until you are 63 and made type there :))) Im 41 Pole in London my English is acquired (I learned Russian at school) and I have difficulties to learn simple stuff because 3 kids and not much time ( I mean night is to short to learn and get enough sleep). Im forcing myself to learn because there in many jobs and career opportunities for developers. Im CAD technician in Highways (working for local council in London) and there is very little jobs in my profession. Im hoping to learn enough to change profession without affecting my salary. Get in touch on linked in Mark, there is enough time to build something before we retire :) Regards, Tom

Python Web Development Techdegree Graduate 28,648 PointsHi, Tomasz Kulpa! You're right! I had a moment of weakness there haha. It's wonderful that you're doing something new as well - and with 3 kids! You have 3 strong reasons to keep pushing forward with this. I think you have (we have) made a good choice. We're definitely in the right place to learn. We just need to do a little bit each day. I'm thinking we might have a tropical beachfront retirement in our futures...
Ayana Bando
9,964 PointsTomasz, I have 4 children so I know what you're going through. You just find time when you can and power through as much as you can and you will get there!
Karla Walker
Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Graduate 15,865 PointsNice to meet you Tomasz Kulpa! It's definitely a struggle when you have to juggle so many other aspects of your life. I don't have kids but with full-time work I definitely had to reevaluate my schedule and sacrifice certain things (although the further I got into my coding journey the easier it was to let go of things that were distracting me). I make myself wake up a few hours before work to get some coding done. I find it harder to focus after a long day of work.
Rodrigo Muñoz
Courses Plus Student 20,171 PointsHi everyone! My name is Rodrigo. I'm a 34 years old Chilean business administrator turned software developer since it was my passion since I was a child. In 2010 I started taking online courses and fell in love with this, and now I just want to keep being better at what I do for a living. I used to have many hobbies in my life, like skateboarding, snowboarding, playing football, and paddle but right now I think I'm going to get good at swimming since I have found the peace I needed when being a developer. I also like to read, watch cult movies and listen to synthwave music, I really feel passionate about this at the point I can't live without them.
If you want to add me on any social network feel free to do it, I would really like it. Here they are:
Happy coding!

6,426 PointsHello Everyone!!!!
I am definitely new to tech. I am honored to be amongst you and to have this opportunity to learn about programming. It is the prospect of a new career that is most exciting overall. I am older as well so don't worry about the age. Let's just make it happen! If I can help you in any way don't hesitate to ask and I am definitely down for teamwork!

4,220 PointsHey everyone! I'm a little late to the party but it's great to read your bios and think of the other people who are also learning on teamtreehouse. I'm a former public school teacher and current contact tracer in NYC. I am learning Android app development.
I'm studying app development because it's great to be able to create something and it is a rapidly growing field. Teamtreehouse has been the best for me so far because it has a structured approach.
I'm still a beginner but I have a few simple projects I made. I made a simple app that displays a random dinosaur and details about them. That is cute. I'm making a weather app now through the Stormy course.
Any other app developers out there? Let's connect on LinkedIn!
