I'm Ryan Mouser, the Content & Community Marketing Specialist here at Treehouse. My pronouns are he/him. I was 15 years old when I started learning to code in PHP for a popular text-based MMORPG game. I've been with Treehouse for over 2 years now and have had the amazing opportunity to wear many different hats. I've been learning with Treehouse since 2015 (you can check out my previous profile here).

Currently, I'm working alongside our world-class team on some exciting opportunities to bring the Treehouse Community closer together. Stay tuned! šŸ˜€

Outside of Treehouse, I have the joy of living life with my incredible wife, our 3 awesome kids, and our 2 cat furbabies. We love to make music, garden, cook, play games, and watch fun TV.

I have a ton of quotes I love - this one is amazing:

"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." ā€“ Nelson Mandela

You can connect with me on LinkedIn here. Looking forward to connecting with y'all!

Hoping you all stay safe, healthy, and well!

Hi Treehousers!! I am Jason! I have been learning with Treehouse for nearly 10 months now and am a FEWD Tech Degree grad as well as a current student of technologies such as the React JavaScript library that is for creating User Interfaces in JavaScript by components. Also, I have dabbled in the languages of Python, PHP/SQL and then decided to come back to JavaScript but the other languages that I've studied have done nothing but help me in the realm of JavaScript and React. It has helped me to see that there are certain things and principles that have kind of a global scope for most languages..Variables, Classes, Functions, Loops & scope (global & local). I may have postponed but not halted my progressively increasing abilities in JavaScript by doing this but I do believe in the long run the diversity of language will benefit me. I am now headstrong into learning React while synchronously building my little arcade with vanilla JavaScript and HTML5 Canvas and a bit of CSS>I will be posting daily on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook (Facebook gets neglected if time runs out lol) for the #100Daysofcode challenge, which I highly recommend for accountability, and will just be posting about my learning and/or growth experiences through this marvelous trek through the world of technology... I have passion to help others and find new ways to make myself better along the way. I will definitely be looking forward to seeing and reading all about your journey and possibly getting to know you better. Here are my social links if you'd like to know me. If not then Happy Coding anyways. And Be blessed along the way!!

Good luck on the #100daysofcode challenge. I haven't heard of it yet, so I will look for information on it. Thanks for the suggestion.

One of my favorite quotes is the following:

In life you will meet two kinds of people. Ones who build you up, and ones who tear your down. In the end, you will thank them both. - author unknown

Hello everyone. I'm Jonathan, and I'm a FSJS TD student. I'm married with two incredible kids and an awesome wife so life keeps me pretty busy, but I'm still dedicated to study a minimum of two hours daily. I initially started as FEWD TD in November 2020, but decided to pivot this year to take on the the challenge of learning JS. I'm currently learning about JS loops, and recently crashed my browser because I created an infinite loop just to see what would happen. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle. šŸ¤£

You may connect with me on LinkedIn or Twitter.

Here's a link to my profile I created. I'll admit that I haven't updated recently because I've been to busy learning JS.

I'm passionate about American football and the NFL. My favorite team is the Dallas Cowboys. I love all things data analytics.

I have recently started blog to record my journey of pivoting to a developer career. You can go here to view it.

Good on you for identifying what you want to learn and making the pivot to the FSJS Techdegree. I believe I already have connected on linkedin, but just wanted to reconnect and say "hey!" :)

Congrats on the blog! The idea of documenting your journey is great. I have been wanting to start one too, but I haven't done it yet.

Firstly I am a father of an awesome boy, and I live in Jamaica. In my previous roles, I have been the Customer Support Manager for companies such as ASUS, 1800 Flowers, AT&T ATS, Syptec, and the Account Manager for AMW Group. I have a few things that I am aspired to do, such as launching Jamaica's first satellite, free wifi, and introduce personal tracking devices as a safety measure for our elders and children in Jamaica and the Caribbean. I am a big advocate of GANJA (weed). I am always open to meeting new people.

My hobbies would include spearfishing, rod fishing, and visiting my family beach. I am new to FEWD, so I am building my portfolio and project. I am currently going through unit 2; as soon as project 2 is completed, I will have the stuff to share.

My favorite quote: "The man who has raw meat seeks fire." - My Grandmother

Simple explaining my raw meat is to become a very marketable FEWD. The fire is the tech degrees and everyone that will contribute positively to this mission's success.

Hello everyone, my name is Cisco Rendon, I am from New York City. First time posting on the community form in a very long time. I am an entrepreneur based in NYC, started learning in 2013 but I have taken time off from learning. I am constantly refining my craft with newer techniques and languages. Aside from web development, I am a man of many crafts. I am IT Associate as well and I also work part time with a small business assisting them in their needs from AP/Purchasing to doing installs. The city of hustlers, that is what New York City is all about.

I started with Team Treehouse when they were teaching WordPress and learned it, worked it and continue to work with WP but i never got around to making a portfolio website for myself. I built a sample once with Javascript, it was fun but nothing that proved what I can offer, just a small glimpse, Cisco Rendon's Github.

You can follow me on Instagram or Facebook. Ask me any questions regarding tech stuff and if I know it, I am more than willing to help. If I cannot, I will point you in the right direction.

I will continue to learn with Team Treehouse, one of my best kept gems in my pocket. I look forward to seeing more work from other students here, want to see what else they can offer and always looking to see others shine in the age of technology.

Chance Favors Only The Prepared Mind -Louis Pasteur

P.S. Learn Github, it is one of the most important lessons that you will need to arm yourself with. Enjoy the evening everyone, stay safe!

"Stop getting distracted by things that have nothing to do with your goals."

This quote motivates me to remain, focused, persistent and committed to achieving my goals. I'm Sarah. I'm an academic at heart. A habitual student learning and improving my metacognition. Also, I am interested in improving my understanding of computer science. Data structures and algorithms across multiple programming languages enthralls me.

I am currently working on my first project which is building a portfolio website of all current and future projects. See my linkedin profile for more information.Ā  I'm so thrilled to start sharing more of myself and documenting my journey with all of you.

For the longest time I've had the wrong perceptions on math. I had a math phobia. In the past I dislike math only because I had poor self image in my own abilities to master mathematics and I didn't have the motivation or support from my peers to enable me to be confident in mastering it.

Now my perception has changed. I like that doing math problems creates new neural pathways and expands cognitive capabilities in the brain.

I love the learning process and find joy in the challenge of it.

My favorite quote of all time is probably, "If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking." - George S. Patton, U.S. Army General. The man had a way with words, and was quite controversial for his day and age. But the words still ring true to me in that it takes all kinds of people and ideologies to make the world what it is. In other words, if it wasn't for people being contrarians to the norm, the world would be a pretty boring place.

Hi, I'm Matt and I'm a Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree student. I'm a father of four kids with a passion for learning and using my creativity to build cool things. In 2020 I went through the Treehouse FSJS track, and after completing that decided to start on the FSJS Techdegree. I'm super glad I did because I learned way more on the techdegree than I ever did on the basic Treehouse path. I'm interested in getting connected with others who share my common interest of programming and would not turn down the idea of a collaboration. I would love to connect with you on linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/matt-coale/.

Also, feel free to follow me on github: https://github.com/Hosamov.

Some of my favorite hobbies include playing music (guitar, piano), game design, and electronics/robotics. Besides these things and coding (which is my #1 "hobby" right now) I enjoy spending time with my wife and four kids.

I hope you have a great day, and happy coding!

Hello, my name is Alexandra (also known as Nyanko-san) and I live in Tokyo, Japan. I finished my now-nearly-useless Web Development degree in 2002 I say "now-nearly-useless" for the obvious reason of immense technological changes in the last 19 years, and I haven't hardly done much with coding or web development since I graduated.

I studied art at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle later after the Web Development degree. I focused a lot on Japanese Woodblock Printmaking. I also loved other areas of Japanese arts and culture. I was fascinated with book design, the language (even though I hardly knew any at the time, and Japanese typography and shodo (calligraphy).

Now I am trying to bring web development and fine art together with a new career.

My current project hasn't been published yet, but it will be in a few days. I am building pages for information on COVID-19 for a non-profit organization that already has an existing site.

It has been quite the journey realizing my old knowledge wasn't working, spending a lot of time learning the things I didn't use that much, and scrambling to learn what I did actually need.

But!

I enjoy learning adventures and all the coffee (or tea) that sometimes comes with that.

My Linked-in is sad and neglected, but I hope to add more soon. I will also be building my own website and Behance profile in the near future. https://www.linkedin.com/in/nyankokamaboko/

I have far too many favorite quotes, as one of my passions is also Philosophy (from the West and East), but here are a couple my former Philosophy professor recently shared:

"Don't let your tools become your process." ~anonymous

"Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." ~Aristotle

Please stay safe wherever you are!

Best wishes to all, Alexandra
