Hey Treehouse Students!

I'll kick things off! 💬
I'm Ryan Mouser, the Content & Community Marketing Specialist here at Treehouse. My pronouns are he/him. I was 15 years old when I started learning to code in PHP for a popular text-based MMORPG game. I've been with Treehouse for over 2 years now and have had the amazing opportunity to wear many different hats. I've been learning with Treehouse since 2015 (you can check out my previous profile here).
Currently, I'm working alongside our world-class team on some exciting opportunities to bring the Treehouse Community closer together. Stay tuned! 😀
Outside of Treehouse, I have the joy of living life with my incredible wife, our 3 awesome kids, and our 2 cat furbabies. We love to make music, garden, cook, play games, and watch fun TV.
In my experience, some helpful ways that you can help yourself overcome and work to solve a coding or design issue are by first: stepping away, taking a deep breath, and gaining perspective. You'll come back with a fresh mind and eyes. Many of you can probably relate to finding that a bug is a simple issue of a missing semicolon or a typo.
If you are having a hard time figuring something out, ask for help or Google-it! You can always ask for help here in the Treehouse Community as well, and there are other great places to get coding and design assistance online. Find those resources, bookmark them, and use them! 💥
You can connect with me on LinkedIn here. Looking forward to connecting with y'all!
Happy networking! :)

My name is Rodrigo. I'm a 34 years old Chilean entrepreneur. I've been in Treehouse for a few years going and coming and willing to stay. I start learning web development in 2010 and I've been through different programming languages and frameworks. I'm currently working with Python learning deep programming with algorithms and design patterns so I can switch later to any language properly.
I'm a film, music, and tech passionate, always following up on what's going on in the world. I also go skateboarding in my free time and sometimes jogging. I like cats more than I would admit, I like how they are awkward and funny and they make my day when I'm feeling overwhelmed.

PHP Development Techdegree Graduate 48,637 Points- Either the solution comes to me after stepping away and thinking very hard about it or after trying everything I can think of until I find something that works, or I search for solutions on Google.
- I am a junior level web developer specializing in PHP, but I am fairly competent in other languages such as JavaScript and Python as well. I am a lifelong learner, still taking Treehouse courses after I got my Techdegree certificate about 10 months ago; I am currently studying Java and currently on Intermediate Java Track.

- Watching physics lecture videos recently have renewed my interest in physics, which was my minor in university. I have interests in other subjects as well: namely, mathematics (my major), history, and, of course, programming. Outside of academics, my interests are watching anime, reading books (mostly fiction), reading manga, and playing/reading visual novels.

PHP Development Techdegree Graduate 21,136 Points- I try to find examples already in production, Google or simply ask for help if I'm stuck!
- I'm a struggling jr. Developer and I wouldn't want it any other way! Trying to balance work studies and family life on a daily basis 3.stay tuned my LinkedIn is a work in progress :(
- Hoping to get back into the swing of projects particularly revisiting those from the php track as well as tackling the challenges of the JS Fullstack track.
- I'm a pretty boring loner just recently getting into more scifi books/films/tv by African American authors. Big Octavia Butler fan, some of her writing is eerily familiar especially in today's climate.

Jordan Kittle
Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Graduate 20,148 PointsHi everyone, I am a 36 year old father of one amazing boy and husband of a wonderful wife. I have a degree in soil science but I've always loved coding and have decided to try for a career in web development. I love riding motorcycles and mountain bikes, and if my son wants to, I'm really looking forward to riding with him as he grows up. Cruising around the desert on dirtbikes with him would be a perfect weekend for me.
When I get stuck in a program, I love adding alerts and console.log() calls to get an idea of what's going on with my program. It is very common for me to add something like alert('got here') in loops and if statements just to make sure things are going as expected. I just learned about debugging using developer tools in Chrome, and can totally see how useful is is, but I have a feeling I'm still going to be using my alerts quite a bit.
I've recently completed a Bitcoin payments point-of-sale web app using the OpenNode API that can be viewed at jordankittle.com I love how Bitcoin opens up a whole new world for online merchants no longer subject to chargebacks. I've used this web app to sell produce from my small organic farm twice already, and it worked great! I also have a text encryption program that I wrote in JavaScript that can be found at jordankittle.com/crypt. I've always loved encryption and as a child I would create encryption/decryption key cards for my friends and I so we could secretly plan who's house we were going to TP. Of course, I was the only one who ever tried to use them.
I'm having a great time learning here at Treehouse and hope you are too. I'm in the fullstack JavaScript techdegree program and available to help however I can in slack so please feel free to reach out there or on Twitter @jordankittle. Good luck with your coding and I hope you are having a great day.

Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Student 10,452 PointsHello all! To overcome a coding issue, I will first do a quick google search which will usually lead me to MDN, w3schools or StackOverflow. Then I will look in the comments and community boards on Treehouse. If those don't solve the problem for me, I take a break by going for a walk or doing something else that's active and many times the answer will come to me while I do that.
For a little bit about myself, I've been working as an architect the last few years but have recently decided to transition into software development in order to find a better work-life balance. I've been spending the last few weeks working through the Full Stack JavaScript Tech Degree and am working on unit 4 at the moment. I signed up for Treehouse to help prepare me for Fullstack Academy, which I'll be starting up with in December.
I have an amazing wife and a two-year-old daughter so I spend almost all of my free time hanging out with them. I love going hiking here in the mountains around Asheville and playing backgammon with my wife after we've put my daughter down to bed.
I'm very interested in fintech, architecture, and of course, lately I've been learning as much as I can about anything software-related. If I can help anybody with anything, please feel free to reach out to me here on Treehouse or on LinkedIn.
John Komarnicki
Front End Web Development Techdegree Graduate 15,416 PointsHey everyone! I'm John Komarnicki, a Front End Techdegree graduate. I'm currently working as a Jr developer at a design agency. This would not be possible without the knowledge the Techdegree gave me.
To overcome and work to solve a coding or design issue there is a few things i take into account. First off, i always start with a google search. This is the most crucial way to begin. It builds up your ability to problem solve and 90% of the time with a bit of searching you will find your answer. In the event google does not resolve my issue, then i will walk away for a brief 10-15 minutes to clear my mind. If after all this, i will usually reach out to a peer and seek help!
More recently, in my free time, i've been working on some projects with Vue js, Which is a great framework to learn coming out of the Front End Techdegree, in my opinion. I actually took on a big project as a freelancer to build out a document library using this framework and firebase. It gave the client to ability to register/login and create organization for their documents. The client could create categories & sub categories, then upload documents and other information to them. There was also a admin portion i built to go along with it. It was a great learning experience and helped me grow so much as a developer.
In my free time, I've recently been starting to create content for web development on YouTube. Mainly content with HTML, CSS and JS. It has been something that has been a big passion since starting web development! You can check out my channel here! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr0D7PVNOHqB3Td7lVl_LKw

29,703 PointsHow do I overcome and work to solve a coding or design issue? What I've found is that stepping away from the computer, going outside and walking my dog is sometimes just what I need to come up with ideas to solve tough problems that I wasn't able to solve after sometimes many hours of staring at the screen. ✅
I'm currently seeking work especially modern javascript development. Node, express, react, angular, etc.
