Hey Treehouse Students!
Welcome back to another Networking Thursday, where you can connect with other Treehouse Students!
Thanks to those of you who participated in the last Networking Thursday! Be sure to invite your friends to participate as well!
How to participate in Networking Thursday:
- Answer the icebreaker activity โ Describe your coding (or design) journey by only using emojis! Tip: To add emojis from Mac by using the keyboard shortcut Command+Control+Shift or Windows by pressing the Windows key and the period button.
- Introduce yourself!
- Share your LinkedIn profile URL for other students to connect to
- Share links and/or screenshots of the projects you've been working on
- Share your interests, hobbies, etc!
- Chat with other students here by responding to their posts!
Make those connections, support each other, leave some endorsements/recommendations on other student's LinkedIn profiles, lend a helping hand to folx in search of work in tech, and give some positive feedback on fellow student's projects. We're all on this learning journey together!
I'll kick things off!
I'm Ryan Mouser, the Content & Community Marketing Specialist here at Treehouse. I was 15 years old when I started learning to code in PHP for a popular text-based MMORPG game. I've been with Treehouse for over 2 years now and have had the amazing opportunity to wear many different hats. I've been learning with Treehouse since 2015 (you can check out my previous profile here).
Currently, I'm working alongside our world-class team on some exciting opportunities to bring the Treehouse Community closer together. Stay tuned! ๐
Outside of Treehouse, I have the joy of living life with my incredible wife, our 3 awesome kids, and our 2 cat furbabies. We love to make music, garden, cook, play games, and watch fun TV (Schitt's Creek Season 6 is on Netflix!)
My coding journey has looked a bit like this... maybe some of you can relate?

5,267 PointsHello all, I am currently learning Javascript after dabbling in front end HTML on and off for a year or so. Finding the dynamic nature of the language really exciting and much more interesting to learn. As a hospitality professional for my entire working life, I am helping to gain skills and knowledge that I can use to help out others in my industry ( one that is notoriously slow to adapt tech solutions ). In my spare time I am passionate about the outdoors and am an active daily runner. Building a basic blog website currently to play around with various things I have learned, not at a point I wish to share yet though!

7,030 PointsHowdy, I am currently learning JavaScript and hope to get to a point where I can gain employment by spring 2021. I earned a BFA in Graphic Design in 2018 and found that to be a less than military friendly job. We move a lot so I need something that compliments that lifestyle. With COVID, kids doing distance and the time I have due to 2020, I decided to apply myself and learn front end development. I do not have any projects that I would like to share at the moment but I have a few that I am brainstorming. I am very optimistic about this journey, especially after finding TreeHouse. I tried to learn using a lot of the free sources but over a month later and things were getting awfully difficult to stick. Now things make sense and I am progressing!

Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Graduate 26,374 PointsHey everyone! I'm a student at University of California, Irvine and currently pursuing a bachelor degree in Business Information Management. I stated learning code back when I was doing my old job as a computer lab technician in the community college. I remember that at some point in my education journey, I decided to enroll in a C++ course. It was a fine experience but I remember hating it after I move to university and I stop coding for around 6 months until I found a video of Chris Sean (idk if you guys have heard about him on YouTube). My curiosity for coding grew ever-since and here I am.
Currently, I'm taking the Front-End developer techdegree here at treehouse and it's been a wonderful experience for me.
Here is what my coding journey look like: ๐ค๐ก๐ค๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐ค๐ก๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐โ๐ฅณ๐๐

9,140 PointsHello All! Currently I'm doing the very beginning track on Treehouse to help me get a better understanding of how Web Devs, Web Designers, and Mobile Devs jobs work, plus networking and all that jazz. I'm going through a course in my city that'll hopefully help me switch my focus from telecommunications, where I've spent 5 years of my time, to the tech industry. I have some college experience but never graduated, and I'm learning that's okay! College isn't for everyone. :) I've been teaching myself HTML/CSS the past few weeks to get ready for this course and I'm excited to see where I'm at when it comes to the Treehouse courses. LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jacob-clark-5a8823126/ GitHub: https://github.com/JaySeeFahx Twitter: @JaySeeFahx

2,823 PointsHi Everyone,
My name is Tim and I've been teaching myself Python, C++, and Swift, but have been spending most of my time focusing on Python. I don't know exactly what it is, but Python is just really appealing to me. I've mainly been working on some small projects - most recently recreating Flappy Bird using Pygame. I'm also looking at joining a bootcamp for Front-End Web Development as I've talked with some of my coworkers and they've said it was a great experience. Anyways, I hope to connect with some of you on Linkdin
Happy coding!
Alfonso De los Reyes
3,451 PointsHi guys,
My name is Alfonso and I've been learning Django for the last 2 months with the idea of making an app, I have been working for more than 10 years in market research and now I am working in Singapore. I want to build an intelligent website that blends market research concepts and company insights.
I jumped here after finishing the Coursera Django for everybody specialization that it was quite messy and the journey here has been quite smooth in comparison, this is my emoji journey here
My dream was to make a videogame but I think that train already left the station, so I suppose that if I cannot make a videogame I will make an intelligent website instead. Sadly I don't have pictures of my project yet, but soon I will have some.
This is my linkedin profile, it would be good to connect with you guys! https://www.linkedin.com/in/delosreyesalfonso/
Good luck ๐

Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Graduate 33,890 PointsHey all! My name is Tyler and I am a recent graduate of the Front-End Web Development Techdegree!
My current job is a store manager for a corporate music retail company, whom I've been with for a total of 4 1/2 years. I have been interested in web development for 11 years since first getting introduced to when helping my mom with my high school band's website. Up until arriving at Treehouse, it had been very off and on exploring code as a hobby, having even dabbled in fundamental PHP and MySQL. I started the TechDegree in May as an indirect result of current world and life events. I never found a quality opportunity and financial circumstance until now where I could do courses leading to an extensive certification with full flexibility in time spent learning AND have something to show for it at the end. I also knew of this company's reputation prior with college friends who have jobs in this type of industry. I am seeking a career shift to development and strive to put emphasis into better accessibility on the WWW.
You can find my portfolio page at tylerpweb.dev. I am working to update my LInkedin Page.
My current hobbies mostly consist of fishing ๐ฃ and whatever games I can keep my attention to, but am down for a round of golf, bowling, or going to see stock car races.
I am also a classically trained musician with a degree in Music Performance, so I hope my critical thinking skills and work ethic will successfully translate to a job in this field.
Thanks all and happy coding!

5,238 PointsHi everyone! My name is Paul, and I currently work in healthcare dining management. I love my job, but am looking to get back into web design - healthcare can be so draining, emotionally!
I have my associates in web graphic design, but have been out of the industry for so long, I need to get myself up to speed. So much feels different from how it was, when I was last working as a designer!
I'm currently working on project 2 in the FEWD course. I hope to have it completed and submitted soon!
In my spare time, I love watching Netflix(can't wait to get started on the new Unsolved Mysteries!) playing my Switch(Currently obsessed with Hades!) and playing with my kitty.
Here is my LinkedIn, if anyone would like to add me! https://www.linkedin.com/in/paul-rohrer-b3b6593b/
And as far as my coding journey is concerned... But I hope with lots of practice, I can make it a ๐คฉ!
