Nested split format among string and list constructs. How to work it properly?

Since list are str sets and one method works only on strings and the other on lists, confusion could easily arise.

banana.py 
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(';')
display_menu = "Our available flavors are: {}.".format(sundaes+", ")

The .split() method creates a list from a string, and the .join() method creates a string from a list. There is no confusion here. Hint: You must use the .join() method for sundaes.
