240 PointsNEED HELP WITH GIT!
In the "Build a Simple Website" I am at the point in the lesson where we are supposed to add color to the background of the "Smells Like Bakin'" website and Nick briefly mentions "Git" and downloads files to have the background change. 2 issues-1) I do not have a MAC-I have a PC. SO when he downloads, I am not sure how to do that on my PC. I went to the downloads files on the screen, but it maybe not working because of the Git?? He just breezed right past it. I downloaded the Git shell to my desktop but I have no idea where to go from here and I cannot match my project to Nicks at this point. I love this entire program but there are times it forgets that I am entirely green at this at a beginner-and to a lay person, Git means nothing...can you help? Thank you-

42,016 Pointshmm I dont remember having to do any git related stuff on those lessons. The files he downloads are most likely provided for you in the teacher notes on the video or in the sidebar on the right under downloads.

240 PointsThank you, but I have downloaded the files with the lesson and it has worked in past lessons, but it is not working on this piece of the project and I am concerned that I am supposed to be implementing Git somehow-which is a challenge as I am clueless to what it is.

42,016 Pointsno git wont make a difference. Im assuming you downloaded some CSS files of some sort yes? he should tell you where to put the files and what to put in them in the video

3,315 PointsYou should ignore git for now. Git is a programming tool that allow you to track changes to your code. But that's not the main point of Build a Simple Website lessons. Whether you use git or not won't affect your website. Once you have the website built and you would like to learn more about git. Try this lesson. http://teamtreehouse.com/library/git-basics

iOS Development Techdegree Student 4,803 PointsHi
If you are in Windows and you are new in Git I recomend to download this: http://windows.github.com/
Here there is a great documentation for using github for windows http://windows.github.com/help.html
And with this installed you won't have problems using the console.

28,149 PointsYes agreed, don't worry about Git at the moment. I agree it sounds like you have a CSS file that isn't correct, which you can probably download from the teachers notes. What you are experience shouldn't hardly be different between Mac and PC. I use both.
