Need help with database creation

Hey,

I'm trying to run an existing rails project locally. And i need to setup a database for it to work. I have a .sql file however when i try to run this through work bench i get this error message

Error executing SQL script.
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Also how do i then access this database on my local server?
