5,252 PointsNeed help with challenge task 2...
I'm stuck with challenge task 2, don't know what I'm doing wrong...I've tried various things but I'm missing something out.
public class ForumPost {
private User mAuthor;
private String mTitle;
private String mDescription;
public User getAuthor() {
return mAuthor;
}
public String getTitle() {
return mTitle;
}
// TODO: We need to expose the description
}
public class User {
public User(String firstName, String lastName) {
// TODO: Set the private fields here
}
private String getFirstName(){
return getFirstName;
}
private String getLastName(){
return getLastName;
}
}
public class Forum {
private String mTopic;
public String getTopic() {
return mTopic;
}
public Forum (String topic){
mTopic = topic;
}
public void addPost(ForumPost post) {
/* When all is ready uncomment this...
System.out.printf("New post from %s %s about %s.\n",
post.getAuthor().getFirstName(),
post.getAuthor().getLastName(),
post.getTitle());
*/
}
}
public class Example {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println("Starting forum example...");
if (args.length < 2) {
System.out.println("first and last name are required. eg: java Example Craig Dennis");
}
// Forum forum = new Forum("Java");
// Take the first two elements passed args
// User author = new User();
// Add the author, title and description
// ForumPost post = new ForumPost();
// forum.addPost(post);
}
}

2,428 PointsFor the second challenge task, you are required to do the following to the User class: (1) add the private fields into the class, (2) set them inside of the constructor, and (3) provide the accessor (or getter) functions.
The private fields required are the ones inside of the constructor parameters (firstName & lastName). Implement them inside the class like:
private String mFirstName;
You then have to make it so that when the class is called, the member variables are assigned. You do this by setting the member variables equal to the equivalent variable passed in the parameters.
i.e.
Class User {
//member variables.
public User(String firstName, String lastName) {
mFirstName = firstName;
//etc...
You then have to create the getter functions which 'return' the private member variables.
i.e.
public String getFirstName() {
return mFirstName;
}
Hope that helps!
