Treehouse TeacherHi there! You're doing fairly well here. You should be comparing the string stored in the variable firstExample
to the string stored in the variable secondExample
. But by enclosing secondExample
in quotation marks, you've made it into a string literal. So it's now comparing "hello" to the string "secondExample", which of course, will not be equal.
Essentially, you need to remove a pair of quotation marks. Take a look:
if(firstExample.equals(secondExample)){
console.printf("first is equal to second");
}
Now this will compare the two values of "hello" and "hello" to each other which will evaluate to true.
Hope this helps!
