Hi, I'm set on learning web development because it's what I like to do, I like pushing myself to learn and to grow in this knowledge (though I know I still don't know much at all). My end goal is to be someone who doesn't chase this career for the money, but for the opportunity to help end-users to experience something. It could be entertainment, learning, inspiration, ...anything. Perhaps that's vague, but I guess I'm more of a humanitarian than a business-oriented person.
My question(s) are where should I look for a job to have this type of impact, nonprofits? Is this goal too idealistic or too vague?

For the past decade I've worked with all kinds of clients. They ranged from cultural institutes, NGOs and local initiatives to commercial enterprises, multinationals and banks. When I started out I assumed the latter kind of clients would mean the most boring kind of work nobody would care for, while working for museums and NGOs would enable me to do some cool things and create awesome experiences for the end user. It didn't take me long to figure out it is actually the other way around.
Big companies are driving innovation and are looking to experiment or take risks, especially if it means creating a better experience for their end-users. NGOs and cultural institutes generally don't want or need more than a simplistic website that they can show to (potential) investors.
