7,443 PointsNeed advice bridging the gap between Web Dev and Game Dev
Hello friends. I was looking to get some insight into what paths to take to reach my career goals.
I have a BA degree in Video Game Design and worked in the games industry for about 2 years. While there I worked in QA at a couple of different companies, here is where I found my interest which is video game networking.
I decided to pursue this after getting laid off at the company I was working for. With little coding experience I went down the road of the front-end developer using Team Treehouse as my house to learn. It worked out great and I found my self a junior front-end developer position at another company in the robotics industry. I strictly use HTML & CSS with a little JavaScript here and there.
I'm looking for some advice on how which steps I can take to learn what is needed to become a developer for a game company working on networking. I love the idea of multiplayer or client to server interaction (more back-end).
Any specific tracks to focus on with this goal in mind?
Any advice is appreciated!
