Can you please explain why it is important to have so many nameservers under custom?

20,491 PointsMy understanding of this is simply for fail-over and redundancy. So, if one server goes down, you have other servers ready to step in and take over. Also, I read that different web services may run from different servers. Saw an interesting post here: Link to one of the better sources I found on ServerFault.com. Please note, the site is external to Treehouse.
What it boils down to are 2 old sayings:
1) Don't put all of your eggs in one basket.
2) Many hands makes light work.
