Nick,

You do have two little bugs here:

1) You didn't declare the firstName as String varaible. Example.java:31: error: cannot find symbol
firstName = "Nick";
^
symbol: variable firstName

Please try: String firstName = "Nick";

2) You didn't call the printf method correctly. Example.java:32: error: cannot find symbol
printf("%s can code in Java!", firstName);
^
symbol: method printf(String,String)

Please try: System.out.printf("%s can code in Java!", firstName); Or: console.printf("%s can code in Java!", firstName); if you are using "import java.io.Console;"

Here is your two code options:

1) Using System: public class Example { public static void main(String[] args) { String firstName = "Nick"; System.out.printf("%s can code in Java!", firstName); } }

2) Using Console: import java.io.Console; public class Example { public static void main(String[] args) { String firstName = "Nick"; Console console = System.console(); console.printf("%s can code in Java!", firstName); } }
