MySQL and XAMP - How to stop Desktop Server connecting to MySQL and instead connect to XAMP MySQL

Hello,

Problem:

I have difficulty accessing my URL development website on Desktop Server. I believe the problem is I have MySQL installed with a Hostname that shows on the Error Page with the following:

'This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at 127.0.0.1. This could mean your host's database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password? Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname? Are you sure that the database server is running?'

Please Note: I have MySQL and there is MySQL contained within XAMP.

Question:

How can I ensure the development website is connected to MySQL XAMP and not my other MySQL?

I have a similar problem. Please help!

I had Xampp already isntalled on my computer and then after I installed Desktop Server I couldnt view the files from htdocs in xamp anymore.

What I want to do is to be able to export a live wordpress site on my localcomputer and then make changes from there. I dont understand how XAMP and Desktop Server work. Maybe they disconect each other. Can someone help me fix this problem?Im beginner This is how my xamp looks Imgur
