Java Java Basics Getting Started with Java IO

My mistake. Here was the questions I've been struggling to answer correctly.

"Using the console's printf method, display a message that says, "First name: ", followed by the first name that the user has entered."

IO.java
// I have imported java.io.Console for you. It is a variable called console.
String firstName = console.readLine("What is your first name?  ");
String lastName = console.readLine("What is your last name?  ");
String = console.printf("First name:");
String console.readLine(%s, firstName);

Hi there! Your first 2 line of codes where you declare the variable are good. But the next 2 lines that you have here need some repair:

String = console.printf("First name:");
String console.readLine(%s, firstName);

Here we do not need to assign the String variables anything as we have already done so up above. We just call the method called "console.printf" directly. The format for this is as follows:

console.printf("First name: %s", firstName);

Here you can see we have two parts of the printf. "First name: %s", where %s is representing a string we cant to insert. Then we put a comma and the name of the variable (firstName)

hope this helps, take care and happy coding!
