I put the meta tag after the <head> and before the</head>. Says Bummer! Remember to add the meta tag in the <head>...Why?

Anyway, the meta tag does not need to be closed. So it would be
<meta charset="utf-8">

I think your inline html has been stripped out. You want to wrap inline code with single backticks. This is the key above your tab key.
