Lost work

I have accidentally lost all of my html work because I thought I was deleting a file. Is my information lost for good? if so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but I need to create a new file(which I know how to do.) Yet, it is not moving on to the console when I click on the file. can someone help me out?
