Looking to use a graphics tablet to improve my use of illustrator. Any recommendations for a beginner to buy?

Looking to purchase a graphics tablet as I think it will help with my art style in adobe illustrator. Any recommendations for a relatively cheap one? I was looking at the WACOM Intuos Pen & Touch, but didn't know if that was worth getting or not?

Hey Illustrators,

Here is my personal preference when it comes to tablets. Wacom by far has the best hardware and certainly the best software out there. However they are very expensive when compared to other alternatives.

Now, if you just want to try out a tablet and don't want to invest that much I would go with something like the Monoprice 10x6.25 . It is similar to a Wacom Intous, as the technology is very similar but the casing and hardware feels much cheaper. Which might sound like a bad thing but it feels very similar to a pencil and piece of paper.

If you'd like to do a little more research on tablets make sure to check out Frenden. He is highly intelligent in the tablet world and has tested just about everything out there. I hope this helps :)

I'm a newbie to design but I got a Wacom Intuos4 Wireless, also I actually started with one of the Wacom Bamboo tablets.

WACOM Intuos is the only way to go. but make sure you swap out the stock nylon nibs for the professional ones. TOTALLY different, much more natural tactile experience.

There are other alternatives to wacom, you might want to check them out, I own a bosto 14inch and its quite good for the price: yiynova Bosto Kingtee

Save a little longer and get the Intuos Series from Wacom. Believe me, it's worth it. After a small phase of getting-used-to it will feel like drawing on paper.
