I can't seem to pass the first step in this challenge. If I use the "public" access modifier, I get "illegal start of expression" compiler error. If I omit it, I get "interface is not allowed here." I tried using a package as well. It seems like a bug in the system, but does anyone else have any insight? I've even copied and pasted code directly from other questions on here that supposedly worked, and it does not seem to be working no matter what.

Treehouse TeacherHi there, Mitchell Golden ! Yes, it seems there is a problem with Java-based challenges right now. This has been reported to Treehouse staff by myself and at least one other moderator. I feel confident that the Support staff is working on this.
That being said, you can skip the challenge by using the white "dots" at the top of the page where the challenge/video is. Clicking any one of these will take you to that section of the course. Don't forget to come back and finish the challenge once everything is working properly again.
