its asking me to return the variable message. not sure why return message; is incorrect.

It looks like you have an extra semicolon.

There's already a semicolon after the input box in the quiz, so you don't want one in the answer you fill in.

if you look carefully next to the text box, they are providing the semicolon for you. typing it yourself therefore is saying return message;; which causes it to say it's wrong.
