It was not clear where the sprint goal came from.

The sprint backlog items were taken from the product backlog. Where did the sprint goal get taken from? If it was from the product backlog, what makes an item a goal?

The Product Owner creates a sprint goal for each sprint. This is a theme that ties together all the work for the sprint. For example, a sprint goal might be to improve the support tools.

The Product Owner may choose to organize the backlog so that items matching that goal are together. In this case, there might be stories for providing a clear navigation, or making it easier to search the knowledge base.

Does that make sense?
