It keeps asking me who I am

Every time I type in "git commit -m "initial commit", it says "Please tell me who you are to set your account's default identity" even though I had already configured my github username and email. Any ideas?

Hi there! If you'll look at the screenshot you posted, it's asking you to add your user name and your email. You're going to need to run the git config --global commands that it's showing you to run. Both of them. And make sure you use the email address that's connected to your GitHub account.

Hope this helps! :sparkles:

Hi Jennifer, I did indeed add my username and email and unfortunately I keep getting that message :(

What is the response if you issue this command? git config --list ?

Don't post the results here, but make sure the entries in user.name and user.email are correct and what you entered.

My mistake! I wasn't putting a space after user.name and user.email. Now it works. Thanks! :)
