Hello everyone,
I have two questions.
I would like to learn more about IT, but I don't have the money to go back to school. Do you have any recommendations for books or on-line courses?
I also would like to learn more about security. What are the things you really should be able to do or know if you want to succeed in security?
Hope you guys can help?
Greetings Indra

I would recommend completing all the Security courses on Treehouse.
Do Introduction to Data Security, Introduction to Application Security and Security Literacy before the OWASP Top 10.
Those courses act as a great introduction and cover a number of essential topics.
In the Introduction to Application Security course, there are links in the teachers notes to articles, blogs, tools and other security related info.
Sites such as hackthissite and enigmagroup are hacker-training sites that let you learn in a safe environment without risk of damaging anything or getting into legal trouble.
Maybe try installing Kali Linux and practice using some of the tools on your own network.
You can find free courses on Youtube and many other sites.
It definitely helps to learn how to code first. If you aren't already familiar with one (or more) languages, I would choose one of the tracks from this page and work your way through that.
Hope this helps :)
