Is there a way to align text converted to shape in Illustrator?

I converted the text to shape, add fills and everything looks great. But the text is not aligned vertically in the center. Is it even possible to do that?

I know how to align things, but I want to know if there is a method to align text after I converted that text into shape - that creates in fact only one object and only thing to do is change the width and height of the fill...

Ok, here is a link, where you can see what I mean: http://jacobwakeup21.9e.cz/data/example.png What I want is (and I don't know if it is possible) to align text in the middle. In this picture it's not so much visible, but I think it's not in the perfect center. Or - is it possible to align the yellow text to the left side of the fill and so on?

Group the letters together. Select the letter-group and the shape. Use the align tool to adjust it to the center.
