Is there a game dev track? Which to take first?

I am interested in learning game development but not sure where to start. I see there are many courses on Maya, Unity, & Swift but what program is better for which type of game style or OS platform? Is there a game dev track to follow? I do not see a labeling of course 1, 2,3 for any of the languages. All I see is several labelled beginner or intermediate, but no indication which to do first.

You probably want to start with How to Make a Video Game. Although there are other courses for C#, this one has no prerequisites and introduces the language along with the game concepts. I don't think you'd need to learn Swift unless you want to write games exclusively for Mac users.

There doesn't seem to be a track for Game Development yet, but if I were to guess at the course order one might have, I would expect something like this:

Now that there IS a track, I was close — but they threw in a couple of C# courses and did not include Maya Modeling Tools.

Enjoy the new Game Development with Unity track.

Hey everyone,

As of an hour ago, there is now a Track called Game Development in Unity! Here's the link:

Sorry we didn't do this sooner - we just didn't feel that there was enough Courses to merit a complete Track. But with the release of Object-Oriented Programming in Unity today, we feel there's more a complete picture there now.

Have fun!

There is no Game Development track (yet?). I would recommend start with "How to make a Video Game" which introduces Unity and after that the other courses will probably organize themselves in your mind (which ones you have the most questions about for instance...). I'm just taking this course and expect when I finish to have enough of an idea about what the others are to pick out a track to follow. Or Treehouse may make a track by then. :)
