15,710 PointsIs it worth creating social pages for a website even though the company will hardly ever post anything on them?
I have a company that will post hardly anything on social networks but is it still worth making them pages on google plus, facebook , twitter , Linkedin ect.. ? Will making these pages just for the sake of it help them in search rankings, even though nothing will be posted/shared?

5,307 PointsYes, if it helps the business in any way shape or form, it's worth it. They could always hire someone one to handle the pages for them.

11,083 PointsI'd say yes too. Even if you as a company rarely use them - your potential customers definitely do. You want to make the business as visible as possible. This will also assist with SEO on your site making links between your business identities.

395 PointsI think it depends on what the goal is. Having social pages where there is no activity can give the impression of a dead presence. Much like a website that a company doesn't update product prices for.
If you are going to create social pages it might be a good idea to think of them like card style websites. Turn off comments and/or posts so customers cannot ask questions that will never be answered. Put descriptive information on them that is useful but has a long shelf life i.e. company blurb and website link if that's what they put the energy into. This way social users can get relevant info and realistic expectations about use of the social pages.
