is it possible to customise how the player will look or totally remove the player from the page/post?

i was playing around with it and was wondering if one could add a custom player or make the audio play from a image in wordpress ...any one has any idea?

I'm 2 years late, but you could probably hide the player using CSS. However, I believe it is bad practice to auto-play sound on websites.
