Is it OK to market myself through my client's site?

Hey,

I am currently wrapping up a project I've been working on for a client and I've been thinking on whether it's OK to put my name and link somewhere on the site? To show the visitor who created the site.

For example putting "Designed and developed by Anton Moritz" in the footer.

What do you think?

Best, Anton Moritz

It's a good idea to put this type of thing in your contract upfront so there are no surprises. You should also cover ownership of the site/content and liability if something goes wrong.

Since we're past that stage, I'd just put it on and see what they say. I've never had a client object to a footer credit and some actually like it, for whatever reason. It doesn't hurt to try.

Agreed - though I usually add some extra vertical margin and reduce the contrast of the text, so it's visible, but subtle enough to be tasteful. -No flash animations or big logos ;)

I will definitely make sure to edit my contract for the next client.

Take a look at the testing site and check the footer.

That looks great! And the footer credit is very unobtrusive. I can't imagine the client will mind.
