how do I make sure the value of greeting is attached to an interpolated string

Hi Ronald,

It looks like you're getting confused between String Interpolation syntax and String Concatenation syntax.

If the exercise is asking for you to use Interpolation, then you will want do the following:

let name = "Ben" 
let greeting = "Hi there," 
let interpolatedGreeting = "\(greeting) \(name)"

String Interpolation for this exercise means you only need the one set of Inverted Commas across the string. To get the values of the variables, you simply need to add (variableName) within the string.
