5,089 PointsInternet Marketing is a huge and complex industry. It's much more than just two steps and takes a long time to learn. Even SEO alone is complicated enough, not to mention email marketing, SMM, conversion and dozens of other sub-areas.
Since you're here on Treehouse, you might as well check out Dan's marketing tutorial first.

Who are your customers? Where do they hang out online? What else do they like? -- Is your product/service something that relates to images (instagram, pinterest), or video (youtube)?
What value can you give to your potential customers, so they see you as THE expert with relation to your product/niche? - (Sell bikes? Start blogging about most bikeable places in your area, biking laws people might not know, how to "extend the biking season" with the right clothing, etc.)
Look for bloggers that blog in same niche (or similar), and offer to do a guest post.
Offer an affiliate program (and market that) to influencers in your niche.
...don't buy online adds until you have a steady stream of customers and understand how they work, how they got to your site, and so forth.
(also analytics, analytics, analytics -- see where your best customers/visitors are coming from)
