9,240 PointsInstalling MySQL server trouble.
I'm doing DataBase Foundations. I have a later version from the one in the video, in fact they no longer promote the same version as the video. I'm having troubles making the connection.
It says: Cannot Connect to Database Server Your connection attempt failed for user 'root' from your host to server at localhost:3306: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
Any help? Can you update your database courses?

I did try to go for the latest version myself but I ran into similar problems. Luckily so far 5.6 is the only version i've needed so far.

31,009 PointsIf you have xampp installed.
WINDOWS though.
For the workbench only install the workbench client make sure the xampp control panel is on for the apache and mysql server.
That's how i followed a long.
If not your going to have to uninstall all your mysql servers and try to do a clean install.
