In what situations would I have to type 'javac'

Hi,

I don't understand in what situations we are supposed to use 'javac' Is it just whenever we make changes to the program? If that is the case then why do we save?

Whenever changes are made in the code, you have to recompile it again (with javac) before you can run it. Most of the time you won't have to write this out yourself in a console, because your IDE does all of that for you when you hit the run button. However it's important you know what's happening behind the scenes when you run your program from the IDE. It gives you a better understanding of the processes going on.
