34,475 PointsImproving Treehouse point system
Let's make a Treehouse another Google!
I am an Chief Investment Officer at the small family company and I usually look at the sites with a eye of investment manager.
Feeling very thankful for the Great service that Treehouse provides I decided to post some improvement to the system.
The idea that came to my mind is about point system.
Let's divide points in a three different point systems:
1.Refferal points.
2.Qualification points.
3.Reputation points.
All three in sum gives us a General point. It's how cool you are on Treehouse!
- Refferal points:
a) Review of the Trreehouse on Quora or another web-site. User send a link and a name of the user who posted it and Treehouse top up points of the user. This practice is from one of the hosting providers who gives points for reviews. Sales boosted up because of this "organic" ads by 30%.
b) Facebook, Google Plus posts. For every post Treehouse give points.
c) Direct recommendation through refferal link also gives points.
PS: You can create an internet shop where users can spend they refferal points on:
a) PRO materials.
b) Check of the user project - very expensive. Take lots of points.
c) Discounts for the subscription.
d) Even a free month if you promoted Treehouse like a crazy. This is practice from the hosting provider that I mentioned before and Duolingo. Users love to play with points if there is way to spend it.
- Qualification points. It's a problem that users stop paying for the service after they've got what they wanted. So it's very important to keep users paying.
a)So you have to work on having a Treehouse a very reputable Qualification point system accepted world wide (we can even give additional Refferal points for posts that my company checked my Treehouse profile before hiring, of course if it's true). Accreditation in some educational organizations might give a boost in recognition of Treehouse as a good place to hire new people.
b) Made a formula for calculating results from a course: whether user Google it and changed the browser tab to find an answer. So it should be an evaluation system that is very strict. Taking quiz second time less points.
- Reputation points for messages in a Community. Best answer, one plus and other. Also a strict system that rank different users. You can even give users different statuses: Like: novice, pro and other to increase social component of the website.
Finally,a strict point system consisting with three main components might be a good development increasing value for shareholders of the Treeehouse.
PS: Thank you for being an excellent resource for studens who want to learn programming!
