HTML How to Make a Website Creating HTML Content Include External CSS

img folder

Hey! So my img folder won't upload - I've continued through the track but it still says 'uploading.' I'm operating a mac on OS X and using Safari.

Hi Alex,

I don't use Workspaces myself but I was just playing with it. I'm using Chrome on Debian Linux. First I download the Project Files to my hard-drive. Then in Workspaces I click on File on the menu bar and then select Upload File. In the dialog box that appears I select all the image files I want to upload. Then files uploaded to the root directory of the Workspace which is not where I wanted them so I deleted the files. I then tried to re-upload the files and nothing would happen so I closed Workspaces and re-opened it. I then made sure the img directory was highlighted before trying to upload the files. This time the files uploaded to the img directory. I don't know if this will solve your problem but sometimes you have to get creative.

We need a bit more context to help you out.

Are we talking about uploading images via FTP? Are we including external CSS files on your page? Also, what was the expected behavior and what was the actual behavior?

Of course, sorry! This is an older step, before CSS

I uploaded the images from the Project File zip folder in the "Structure the Image Gallery" section of Creating HTML Content. It was just the folder I needed to drag and drop into workspaces to add images such as the FB and Twitter logos onto the website. Once I drop the file into workspaces it is supposed to load so I can include the images on the site I'm building - however they don't load and instead it just shows "Uploading img"

It sounds like you might be trying to drop the entire folder into Workspaces. I haven't used Treehouse Workspaces yet but you might try creating the img folder in Workspaces first and then dropping the images into it.

For the sake of discussion:

The instructional video in question is from the Web Design Track, and is for Stage 3, Video 2: /how-to-make-a-website/creating-html-content/add-image-gallery-content

In the video, the instructor clearly tells us to locate the previously downloaded /img/ folder on our hard drive and drag it to the lower left 'hotspot' in the Workspace window, at which point the folder and all of its files should upload and appear, in an /img/ folder of course, in our workspace file list. He actually does this right on the video.

I had the same problem as the OP: I got a spinning indicator with the word "Uploading" which never completed or resolved.

However, the workaround suggested above by Jeff worked fine.
