I am attempting to crop my photos to 1024x768 in iphoto bc I do not have photoshop, but everytime I export the photo it reverts back to 638x 479. My question is, for the beginners how to make a web page lessons, how necessary is it that the photos are 1024x 768? anyone know why when i export the changes out of iphoto, why the dimensions change to 638x479? Is there anyway I can just use what I have, bc I do want to make this webpage relative to my own projects, not just random examples.

818 PointsImages on a webpage can be scaled to any reasonable dimension (with respect to quality). If your images are not a perfect dimension, you can just edit the style (width and height) of the image to match what you are going for. However, if the style does not match the dimensional ratio, the image will be skewed or scaled. Most of the time the scaling is not noticeable.
Images with dimensions of 1024x681 are fine depending on the location of the image and the actual size needed. If you are using a mac, you can edit the dimensions of a photo in preview rather than iPhoto. Tools -> Adjust Size
