i keep getting add returned the wrong results am i using float wrong
def add(num1,num2):
float(num1 + num2)
return(num1 + num2)

can only accept one item at a time. But you were on the right track! So you need to try to convert each one individually and then add them together:
def add(num1,num2):
return float(num1) + float(num2)
