Python Python Basics (2015) Logic in Python Try and Except

im not getting it

i keep getting add returned the wrong results am i using float wrong

def add(num1,num2):
    float(num1 + num2)
    return(num1 + num2)

Hi there! It's that float can only accept one item at a time. But you were on the right track! So you need to try to convert each one individually and then add them together:

def add(num1,num2):
    return float(num1) + float(num2)

As I understand you're also experiencing trouble with the last part, I'll show you how I did that one.

def add(num1,num2):
    try:
        return float(num1) + float(num2)
    except ValueError:
        return None
