22,538 PointsThat looks right.
sudo
is a command that elevates your privileges
cp
is the 'copy' command
/usr/local/mysql/support-files/my-default.cnf
is the source
/etc/my.cnf
is the destination
The fact that it did nothing but show you the prompt again shows that it completed successfully.

Courses Plus Student 770 PointsThank you for your reply Samuel, would you have any pointers or recommendations on how I could go about resolving the problem?

22,538 PointsOn the lines where cp is outputting "usage:" it's telling you that you're missing a requirement parameter. The required parameters being source and destination. Only one parameter was specified in those cases.
