I'm getting: "field.sendKeys is not a function" error, why?

I was following the instructions till:

const field = driver.findElement( By.xpath("/html/body/div/header/form/input") );

but after typing the next line (and pressing enter in command):

field.sendKeys("Found this element with an explicit XPath");

I got this Error:

TypeError: field.sendKeys is not a function

Please help, Thanks in advance.

Can you console.dir(field) please?
