Courses Plus Student 3,720 PointsIllustrator - moon icon text issue
I wonder if anyone can help. In the illustrator foundations course, when creating the moon icon I've had some trouble with the text. After writing 'MOON WALKER', I selected the text and clicked 'create outline', then I went to Object, Path, Outline Stroke as instructed in the video tutorials. However, when I went to Pathfinder, Merge, I still had paths inside the text. It mainly appeared to be the R where the hole in the letter seemed to still have paths. This meant when selecting and changing the colours to the light gold, there was still a black line inside the lettering.
I got around it by selecting all the points on the letters one by one and making them gold, but obviously this is not right and so I would love to know what I've done wrong. Many thanks to anyone who helps.

Courses Plus Student 3,720 PointsHi Mat and thanks for the reply.
For "Moon Walker" I used Gill Sans and for interactive I downloaded the font file for Rochester from Google Fonts (as the Rochester in Illustrator CC was not the same as the font you used in the video.
I hope you can help, neither me nor google could solve it.
Thanks again,
Andy

Can you send me your AI file via email so I can take a look at it?

Treehouse Guest TeacherHey Andrew Murphy ,
I looked at your file and It appears to have an error in the font it self or Adobe Illustrator is doing some crazy outlining. I would suggest doing the following:
Deleting the title "Moon Walker" and repeat the same actions you did previously.
If it happens again try using another font.
If not than your Gill Sans is acting up. If it happens again it could be an error in Illustrator. Make sure you're up to date on the software.
I hope that helps :), Let me know if you have any further questions.
