Treehouse TeacherHi Saad Meah,
It sounds like you used the wrong merge type, but I can't be sure. Can you link me to the specific video you're having trouble with?
In the meantime, this article from Adobe might help. It's about merging objects in Illustrator: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/illustrator/cs/using/WS714a382cdf7d304e7e07d0100196cbc5f-6462a.html

Treehouse TeacherHi Saad Meah,
It sounds to me like you're clicking the wrong Shape Mode on the Pathfinder panel. The different modes will combine the intersections of objects in different ways. For example, you can merge objects and ignore the overlap, you can keep only the overlap, or you can keep the objects but delete the overlap.
Does that make sense? :)

11,244 PointsI've got the same problem and no matter which type I click, every time some part of the image gets deleted. I tried to move layers forward/backwards, no luck.
