13,027 PointsIllustrator - Edge snapping
I've struggled to find an answer for this for ages and wondered if anybody here has noticed the same issue and could shed some light on it :
In Illustrator, when trying to snap an element to the edge of an art-board or the canvas, even with snap to grid "on", it does not accurately work (like it should with grid snapping) and instead allows the element to be snapped to, for example, 0.038px or some other random value.
IS there some reason for this that I'm missing?
It's not a huge issue as i usually snap to the grid line and then just shift it over, just bugs me!
Thanks guys, Spen

Treehouse Guest TeacherHey Spen Taylor ,
Unfortunately everything in Illustrator isn't perfect especially when it comes to snapping to specific locations. However you can use two different techniques to align your objects to the edge of your Artboard.
ā¢ The first is by using your Align panel (Window>Align). Select your objects or objects and align them vertically or horizontally to the edge of the Artboard.
ā¢ The second option is by setting the exact X and Y coordinates of the object in the Transform panel (Window>Transform).
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

13,027 PointsHi Mat, Much thanks for the reply I'll have a play with the align panel - sounds useful!
Just seems odd that the grid doesn't work right along the art board edge, surely a lot of people would have problems with this! - very strange!

13,027 PointsCertainly looking forward to it! Everything I know about Illustrator has been self taught, I'm sure I've got some terrible habits to iron out!
Thanks again for bits of advice Mat :)
