If I have my own company which I am developing websites under, do I put my name or the company name as the author?

Hello,

I was wondering whether I am supposed to list my company's name or my name as the author. If I list the company name, how will I be able to say that I created the theme for portfolio purposes?

For example, (this is made up) if my company is named ABC Wordpress Developing. I list that name as the author instead of my name. So when someone looks at the work they see ABC Wordpress Developing instead of my name. How do I prove that this is my work?

i think it mostly depends on your personal choice. Whether you want to advertise your company name or your personal name when somebody uses your theme.

I think it would depend on what 'type' of company you have, and whether or not you want the company or yourself to retain the copyright of the theme.

Disclaimer: I am in Canada, so if you are in another country, the laws and setups may vary.

I am a sole-proprietorship, and therefore, I put my name on everything, as my name is legally my business (even though I operate as a different name. If I were incorporated, you could do either. Personally, I would probably use the business as the owner (as this keeps assets within the business), with a "designed by: your name" addition.

It's like Mohit says... it'll come down to your preference. But it wouldn't hurt to add the "designed by..." or "designer..." into the credits.
