Ideal size for Photoshop webdesigns?

I was wondering what the ideal size for a webdesign created in Photoshop should be. Anybody got a suggestion for a good size? Normally i just use 1200x1100 but i'm not sure how good that is.

I normally use a 1150x900, with vertical guides at 85px and 1065px to keep all the content within a 980px container. It gives you a better idea of what the content will look like when the view is a bit wider, but ensures that the width will fit comfortably on most screens.

I would use the GuideGuide (http://guideguide.me/) photoshop plugin. I found this to be the easiest way of getting a consistent grid system every time. TOP TIP It is best to get some presets set up and to change the setting of how the grids are generated. I use the 'Center' property so that I can have my grid in the center of my canvas and it is perfect every single time. Hope this helps!
