18,705 PointsDelete ic_launcher.xml. Probably not the best answer but it works.

13,782 Pointsif you are having 2 folders named as ic_launcher and ic_launcher_round
then you need to go to manifests directory,
inside that you will find AndroidManifest.xml file
in that you will find android:icon = "@mipmap/ic_launcher_round"
just set it to android:icon = "@mipmap/ic_launcher"
and you are good to go.
also i couldnt see the change on NEXUS 6 API 28 device. So i added NEXUS 5X API 15. then i could see my logo changed to the one we want.
you should not go for deleting any file.
let me know if this works for you.
