Courses Plus Student 6,704 PointsI was following along right until the Mamp control panel
When Zac said pull up the Mamp control panel I had no idea where that came from. Where do you get that?

This is so you're able to work with WordPress locally.
You can find MAMP for Mac here and XAMPP for PC here.
Hope that helps

13,276 PointsMost of the confusion for PC users likely comes from not knowing how to get to phpmyadmin.
You can just type localhost/phpmyadmin
for your url and that'll get you there. Hope this helps.

3,800 Points@Rich Bagley this is way too confusing for PC users and surely treehouse can correct this by noting in the video that at this point PC users should refer to the above video link

4,670 PointsI’m totally lost too. Im using xxamp and because I was following the wordpress development track I already did the one click wordpress intall. I have managed to set up the localwp files on xxamp. Arrived at the login configuration page for wordpress. But I don’t know what the password is for mysql . I already have a username set up through cpanel. Which set up automatic has 1.68g of space in it. should delete it and set up a new user name? I tired to go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ but I got this error msg. im completely lost on this course. i have know idea what im doing.

The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured). Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.

9,967 PointsOkay, having the same issue and after reading all of your questions and comments, it really is the exact same thing. As Brock Keasler put it: copy and paste localhost/phpmyadmin in your URL
and follow the exact directions as in the video, it is the same I promise. PC for life....

Courses Plus Student 2,096 PointsI'm a bit confused here too as I'm on my PC. XAMPP is installed as I'm following along, but the next tutorial goes right back to Mac. I'm not sure how to use the interface of XAMPP it's completely different than MAMP. Also he said to go into our newly setup sites folder in this video which in the last video he didn't have us setup and sites folder.
It's a bit confusing..but I've long learned you just have to plow through. Where do I get tutorials on how to use XAMPP?
