20,698 PointsThe best advice I've been given on starting something is to look at people around you and try to solve their problems with a new app/website/product. Its not only a good thing to do, but it's how a lot of successful businesses are started.

18,141 PointsLook at the problems/challenges that you experience every day. Some of the best businesses ideas can be found from simple tasks you might automate, streamline, or innovate upon.
Start by documenting everything you do each day and note things that felt like they took too long or were inconvenient. After 20 days you should have a few business ideas.
For example, here is one of my ideas formulated using this same advice.
- Every single day, I collect receipts from transactions I make. Wouldn't it be great if there was a service that allowed businesses to send you a digital receipt to an account where you could easily search and find transactions?
