I think you got BUG in this application , I did this many times again and move to shell finally on shell it just works

name = "shay"
subject = " Treehouse loves {} "
print(subject)
Treehouse loves {}
print(subject.format(name))
Treehouse loves shay

Try to follow the instructions as closely as possible. Don't use print(), only format() and then assign the result to the variable subject. Also, you had a space before Treehouse and a space after {}.

name = "shay"
subject = "Treehouse loves {}".format(name)
